This guide explains how to play classic games directly in your web browser on our player page. It assumes you already possess the game files. No downloads, no emulators to install, and no account setup are required.
How it works
If you have a game file that you own, the player loads it locally in the browser tab and runs the emulator in JavaScript on your machine. The file is not uploaded anywhere and is not sent to any server. You select the file from your device using the file picker, and the game starts immediately.
Because the execution happens in the browser on your device, the experience behaves like running a desktop emulator: it reacts to your keyboard or gamepad and updates the screen in real time. This approach keeps the process simple and avoids installation steps.
Privacy by design
The design is based on a local-only model. When you open the player and choose a file, the browser reads that file directly from your computer or mobile device. The site hosts no copies of user files, stores nothing you upload, and receives no copy of your game data.
This means your ROM collection stays on your own device. Only browser features that run on the client side โ such as local storage for save data and Web Audio or Web APIs for audio output โ are used. No personal information or game files are transmitted to the site.
Supported systems and file types
The player supports the following systems and file formats:
- NES โ `.nes`
- Game Boy and Game Boy Color โ `.gb`, `.gbc`
- Game Boy Advance โ `.gba`
- Sega Master System โ `.sms`
- Atari 2600 โ `.a26`, `.bin`
- MS-DOS โ `.jsdos` bundles, or `.zip` archives that contain DOS game files
Load the file from the player page, then start the game. If a file does not start, check that it matches the system listed here and that it is not corrupted or packed in an unsupported archive.
Getting files lawfully
Only load files that you have a right to use. Legitimate sources include:
- Dumping cartridges from games you own using a cartridge reader device, creating personal backups.
- Purchasing DRM-free classic game bundles from legitimate stores that include the ROM files alongside installers.
- Downloading homebrew and fan games that authors distribute freely, following the licensing terms they provide.
Do not use files obtained from sites that share copyrighted games without permission.
Save data and save states
The player keeps two kinds of save data, both stored in the browser's local storage on your device:
- Battery saves, which mirror the in-game save system of the original cartridge or disk.
- Save states, which record the exact emulator state at a specific moment.
These saves are tied to the browser and device. If you clear your browser data, cookies, or local storage, your save states and battery saves will be deleted. Keep backups of important saves outside the browser if you want to keep them long term.
Tips for playing
- Keyboard controls are configured by default in the player. Check the on-screen control reference for the current layout.
- Gamepads are supported. Connect a USB or Bluetooth controller and press a button or axis to register it.
- Fullscreen is available for a cleaner view. Use the fullscreen control in the player or a keyboard shortcut if shown.
- Audio settings can be adjusted in the player if you have trouble with lag or sound output.
FAQ
Do I need to install anything?
No. The emulator runs in the browser, and your game file stays on your device.
Is my game file saved on the site?
No. Files are loaded and run locally; the site does not host or receive user files.
Will clearing my browser data delete my saves?
Yes. Save states and battery saves are kept only in the browser's local storage, so clearing that data removes them.
